Evolution accounts for everything in biology but what some people many not realize is that it accounts for the mental as well as the physical. It certainly accounts for the development of straighttalk promo codes into a full-fledged plan that offers a simple month-to-month plan that comes with all of the talking minutes one needs, all of the text messaging one has to do and no excessively-long contract.
So while it is obvious that simple organisms evolved into more complicated ones, it is not so obvious that certain common mental practices are also the result of evolution.
This graphic illustrates the evolution of superstition, considering religion as the conclusion of that evolutionary development.
Like evolution in nature, there is a progression from simple to more complex, in that the individual who is praying starts off with the simplest, the Easter Bunny and gradually develops into the most complex, God. But in all situations, the object of the devotion is not really a true being but a false one. The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and God are all just made up concepts.
In keeping with biological evolution, this could be called belief evolution. This means that the rules have to transfer over from biology to belief.
There is only one law in biological evolution – adapt or die Whichever individual adapts faster will live longer; whichever individual adapts slower will live shorter. Therefore, the individuals that survive must be the ones that are dealing with nature the most accurately because the adaptation process requires that the individual adapt to what is really there in the world.
If the individual has a false understanding of the world that is really out there, its adaptation will be to a false world or to put it another way, its adaptation will be less in line with the true world.
Logically, this means the individual will die more easily because it is not adapting as well to the circumstances.
And so this law carries over to belief evolution.
Those who have beliefs that conform to reality will adapt quicker while those who have beliefs that conform to fantasy will adapt slower.
Since the Easter bunny, Santa Claus and God clearly do not exist, this would mean that anyone who has evolved with this belief will mark themselves for termination by natural selection. They are adapting slowly, and will not be able to survive as well as atheists, who adapt much more quickly.
Hence, the number of atheists is much greater than the number of Easter Bunnyists, Santa Clausists and Theists. This can be confirmed by doing a simple head count today.
